Someone put a real engine in a Barbie car and it’s glorious

Barbie’s toy cars were pretty cool for kids, but the mini cars aren’t that much fun. After all, they can only go a whopping 2.5 miles per hour, according to their product specs.

But one group of car enthusiasts took the toy cars to a whole new level.

Grind Hard Plumbing Co, a YouTube channel for building “crazy contraptions and cars” customized a bright pink Barbie Ford Mustang with a 240cc engine from a dirt bike.

The result: an incredibly fast, very dangerous toy. In the video — which includes some gorgeous shots of a lake at sunset — one of the car’s creators, Ethan, nearly spin off the side of a cliff.

“That thing is unbelievably loud and so sketchy right now,” one person in the video says. They conclude that driving the little pink car probably isn’t a great idea.

Creator Edwin Olding told The Drive that the little car can reach a max speed of 70 miles per hour, which is just impressive.
